Introducing our new Living Well centres

Two new living well centres in Watford and St Albans

We’re delighted to have launched two new Living Well centres, offering people living with progressive life-limiting illnesses – and those who care for them – the support they need to live well, every day.

The centres that are based at Peace Hospice in Watford, and Grove House in St Albans, provide a wide range of free services designed to boost wellbeing, support independence, and help people manage their conditions in a positive and practical way.

Whether recently diagnosed or further along in their journey, individuals can access personalised support to give them the confidence to live well with their illness, in a calm, welcoming environment, delivered by an expert, compassionate team.

The Living Well centres provide support that goes beyond traditional clinical care. Services include:

  • Exercise and wellbeing classes to support physical health and vitality
  • Emotional support to help individuals cope with a diagnosis and its impact
  • Complementary therapies, such as massage and reflexology, to promote relaxation and comfort
  • Specialist clinics to help manage symptoms like breathlessness and fatigue
  • An 8-week Living Well programme designed to build confidence and resilience when living with a serious illness
  • Gardening groups and social activities to improve mental wellbeing and reduce feelings of isolation

“The yoga teacher played a big part in rebuilding my confidence. The sessions helped me feel stronger, less fearful, and more in control of my life again.”

- Heather, chair yoga attendee

We’re committed to delivering community-based support that empowers people to live on their own terms – even when facing complex health challenges.

The Living Well centres are open to anyone with a life-limiting illness, such as Parkinson’s, progressive respiratory conditions, incurable cancer, progressive neurological conditions and heart failure.  Family members and carers are also welcome to take part in selected sessions.

“Our focus isn’t only on end of life care — it’s just as much about life. We’re here to give people the confidence to live well, stay active, and get the best out of their day, while also ensuring they feel comfortable, safe, and supported when they need it most.”
