About our Drop-in Sessions at Grove House

Rennie Grove Peace’s Drop-in Sessions at Grove House are an opportunity for people to access or find out more about the support we can offer for life-limiting illness. During Drop-in Session hours, you can call in without an appointment knowing there will be someone there standing by, ready to help. Patients, family members, friends, colleagues, potential volunteers, healthcare professionals – everyone is welcome.

Importantly, we are here to provide support right from diagnosis, regardless of prognosis. Some of our patients will be on a palliative path, others on a curative one. Whatever your circumstances, a visit to our Drop-in Session will enable us to connect you to the best services to support you.

For example, you can find out more about our Listening and Talking Therapies, our Living Well course, and our Supporting Hands service – a network of volunteers who provide companionship or practical support for everyday tasks. You can also find out about our Hospice at Home service, which supports adults and children in their own homes.

  • support for cancer, motor neuron disease and other life-limiting or life-changing illnesses immediately from diagnosis
  • no appointment needed – just turn up and we’ll offer you a cuppa and a chance to chat
  • meet friendly staff and volunteers in a relaxed environment
  • ask any questions you may have about life-changing or life-limiting illness
  • find out how we can help if you or someone you know has been diagnosed with a life-changing or life-limiting illness
  • share worries and concerns – get referred to services that can support you and your family

Like all Rennie Grove Peace services, our Drop-in Sessions are completely free of charge. They’re not means tested and there’s no cost to the patient or their family. We can deliver the services thanks to the generosity of the local community. In short, donations, charity shop income and fundraising events cover 91% of our running costs.

Anyone in our catchment area across Herts and Bucks is welcome to pop in to Grove House without an appointment during our Drop-in Session times. Grove House is located adjacent to St. Albans Hospital in Hertfordshire.

If you live too distant to travel to Grove House, you may wish to have a telephone chat instead. Our Day Services and Family Support teams work out of Grove House, providing some support on site, some virtually and some in patients’ homes. Our Hospice at Home teams provide care in patients’ homes across our catchment area.  Once we understand your needs, if we feel you can be better supported by day services nearer your home we can facilitate a referral.

However you’d like to get in touch, we’re here to help:
