The event is proudly supported by EMW
EMW‘s Partner and Head of Real Estate, Terence Ritchie, has a deeply personal connection to Rennie Grove Peace. In October 2023, Terence took on a month-long challenge, running or cycling every day to raise £1,200 for the charity. His motivation? The remarkable care his father-in-law received from the Hospice at Home team in 2013.
“The care was so incredible that I knew I wanted to help others access the same support,” says Terence. “I’ve fundraised, volunteered as a trustee, and now I’m excited to help bring this Bikeathon to life with EMW.”
How your ride will support Rennie Grove Peace
If each of the 4 bikes in a one-hour slot raises an additional £100 (plus the £32 registration fee), together you’ll cover the cost of a Healthcare Assistant for a full 24 hours.
Our healthcare assistants help patients feel like themselves again – offering support with washing, dressing, medication, and monitoring wellbeing. They’re a caring face, a listening ear, and a steady hand, whether in a patient’s home or in our Inpatient Unit at Peace Hospice.
Maria is a healthcare assistant in the Rennie Grove Peace Inpatient Unit. In 2023 her mum, Pat, was admitted there for end of life care.
“Before Mum came here, I knew how amazing the Inpatient Unit is – all our staff working together as a team to help people and their families. But sitting on the other side of the bed, it changes how you look at it. I’m now even more proud of what I do, I am so proud of our team and our hospice, I now truly understand how valuable the services are that we provide and I feel honoured to do my job because people are coming here when they are at their most vulnerable. They are scared and we provide a safe place and look after them. When a patient and their family come through the door, I can recognise that sense of relief because I have personally experienced it.”

Signing up and sponsorship

Yes – fundraising is a key part of the Bikeathon! We’re asking each bike in a one-hour slot to raise £132 (which includes your registration fee). If all four bikes hit that target, together you’ll fund 24 hours of care from a dedicated healthcare assistant. Your £32 registration fee + £100 in fundraising help us go the extra mile to support patients and families within Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
If you’d prefer not to fundraise, you can simply make a £100 donation when booking your slot to help us reach our goal.
