Ways to raise money for charity

Ways that you can support Rennie Grove
You help us raise millions of pounds through charity retail, including our shops and ecommerce. For example, in a typical year Rennie Grove’s shops raise £3.3 million thanks to your generous donations and custom. During 2021-22, enforced closures and lockdown restrictions saw that amount drop to £2.8m. But with your continued support we moved our focus online when our shops had to shut. So, through online platforms like eBay and Depop, we now make £4,000 every week in online sales.
Every year you donate generously so we can keep providing hospice care in Bucks and Herts. In addition, much of what you donate we can increase by 25% through Gift Aid. Many of you make donations in memory of people we have cared for. Your generosity will help other families facing life-limiting and terminal illness in the future. Because of you, they’ll have the same choice to be cared for at home.
Regular gifts help us plan with confidence to meet growing demand. You can support us via regular donations by:
- becoming a friend of Rennie Grove
- joining our vice presidents
You could leave a legacy by making a gift in your Will to Rennie Grove Hospice Care. So, once you’ve taken care of your loved ones – could you help other families too? Because gifts in Wills help other families in Bucks and Herts get the support they need when faced with cancer or another life-limiting or terminal illness. For example, around one third of our specialist hospice at home nursing teams has been funded from generous gifts in Wills. As a result, more patients receive palliative care at home when they need it.
Thousands of you take part in our major events like the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge or the HERTS 10K. Or you collect sponsorship for your own personal challenges like skydives, treks or cycling. The money you raise makes a massive difference to families facing life-limiting illness. It helps fund months of specialist hospice care from Rennie Grove nurses and clinicians.
Whether you’re after an endurance event, a challenging cycle event or an open water swim event, we’ve got you covered.
Hundreds of you host events on our behalf. These range from golf days to quizzes, to dinner dances to ferret racing! View a whole list of forthcoming events in our What’s On diary or contact the fundraising team if you’d like to help fundraise in this way.
Generous grants from Trusts and Foundations have made a massive difference to the development of our service. For example, without Trusts’ backing, we’d have struggled to pilot our dedicated night team. And we certainly couldn’t have rolled it out so successfully without Trust funding. Grant-giving organisations have ensured more families in Bucks and Herts can get palliative care at home, day and night.
Hundreds of local businesses in Bucks and Herts have helped us spread the word about our service and raised invaluable funds. Some companies adopt us as their Charity of the Year. Others donate gifts in kind such as cable ties for event banners or bottled water for event participants. Local businesses have arranged, sponsored or under-written events for us. However you’ve helped, you’ve ensured more of the money we raise can go straight to helping families who need us.
The Pepper Foundation helps fund the Rennie Grove Children’s Hospice at Home Team and generously contributes around £200,000 every year through its fundraising events. The total raised by Pepper since 1989 is over £5m.
With cash prizes up for grabs every week, this is a win-win scenario. The partnership of five local hospices brings in around £400,000 for Rennie Grove every year. Regular income of this magnitude is invaluable to us. Because it helps us to support the patients who need us now. And it means we can plan with confidence to help those we know will need us in the future.
