Our funding & accounts

See how we’re funded and why it matters

As we only receive 14% statutory funding, as a charity, we need to raise 86% of our £20m total income through the generous support of our local community.  £6.2m of this amount is raised through fundraising, which equates to £17,000 per day.

We cannot thank you all enough for the many ways you all find to help support us.

How much NHS funding does Rennie Grove Peace get?

Around 14% of our annual running costs come from the NHS.  We rely heavily on the generosity of our local community, thank you.

Ways that you can support Rennie Grove Peace

You help us raise millions of pounds through charity retail, including our shops and ecommerce. For example, in a typical year our Rennie Grove Peace shops raise £4.8million, thanks to your generous donations and custom. During 2021-22, enforced closures and lockdown restrictions saw that amount drop to £2.8m. But with your continued support we moved our focus online when our shops had to shut. So, through online platforms like eBay and Depop, we’re now packing over 200 items a week and 7 % of our retail & trading income comes from ecommerce.

Your generosity will help other families facing life-limiting illness or bereavement in the future. Because of you, they’ll have the same choice to be cared for in the place that is best for them.

Regular gifts help us plan with confidence to meet growing demand.  You can support us via regular donations by:

You could leave a legacy by making a gift in your Will to Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care. So, once you’ve taken care of your loved ones – could you help other families too? Because gifts in Wills help more local people in Bucks and Herts get the support they need when faced with life-limiting illness or bereavement. For example, around one third of our specialist Hospice at Home teams has been funded from generous gifts in Wills. As a result, more patients receive palliative care at home when they need it.

Thousands of you take part in our major events like the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge or the Herts 10K. Or you collect sponsorship for your own personal challenges like skydives, treks or cycling. The money you raise makes a massive difference to families facing life-limiting illness. It helps fund months of specialist hospice care from our Rennie Grove Peace multi-disciplinary team.  Whether you’re after an endurance event, a challenging running event or an exhilarating skydive, we’ve got you covered.

Hundreds of you host events on our behalf. These range from golf days to quizzes, to dinner dances to ferret racing! View a whole list of forthcoming events in our What’s On calendar or contact the fundraising team if you’d like to help fundraise in this way.

Generous grants from Trusts and Foundations have made a massive difference to the development of our service. For example, without Trusts’ backing, we’d have struggled to pilot our dedicated night team. And we certainly couldn’t have rolled it out so successfully without Trust funding. Grant-giving organisations have ensured more families in Bucks and Herts can get palliative care at home, day and night.

Hundreds of local businesses in Bucks and Herts have helped us spread the word about our service and raised invaluable funds. Some companies adopt us as their Charity of the Year. Others donate gifts in kind such as cable ties for event banners or bottled water for event participants. Local businesses have arranged, sponsored or under-written events for us. However you’ve helped, you’ve ensured more of the money we raise can go straight to helping families who need us.

The Pepper Foundation helps fund the Rennie Grove Peace Children’s Hospice at Home Team and generously contributes around £200,000 every year through its fundraising events.
