New CompassionART Café launching in Oxhey
We’re bringing support for those who are lonely due to a life-limiting illness or bereavement to Oxhey with the launch of our CompassionART Café in July 2025.
This will be the second of our CompassionART Cafés, launching on Thursday 31 July and will be held at Oxhey Library, run in partnership with Three Rivers District Council Healthy Hub. Running from 1.30pm-3pm, the CompassionART Café will take place on the last Thursday of every month.
What are CompassionART Cafés?
CompassionART Cafés are drop-in sessions that provide a safe space for people to come together and express themselves through art. They are aimed at anyone who has experienced bereavement, and those who might be lonely due to illness. The sessions include a guided arts and crafts activity and provide a safe space to chat and connect with others, share memories and create lasting connections over a cup of tea.
“This CompassionART Café will be a great addition to the Oxhey community, bringing people together and offering important support. I love arts and crafts and find that it really allows me to slow down and relax, whilst chatting to other people and building friendships. We recently tried diamond art, and I found that having an art activity really helped me to stay present in the moment and focus on mindfulness.”
“We are delighted to be bringing our CompassionART Café to Oxhey. We know that being diagnosed with a life-limiting illness or experiencing a bereavement can be a lot to manage, and can make people feel very isolated. Our CompassionART Cafés are there to provide support – these safe and warm spaces allow people to enjoy the wellbeing benefits of arts and crafts amongst like-minded people. Art can be a fantastic way to convey emotions and reduce stress so we’re pleased to be bringing this support to local people.”
