We’re delighted to announce that the results of our recent PLACE (patient-led assessment of the care environment) audit confirm that our patient buildings provide a comfortable, safe and welcoming environment for patients and those around them.

Peace Hospice in Watford has been recognised as offering a care environment that focuses on privacy, dignity and wellbeing after scoring 94% in these areas while Grove House in St Albans was commended for being well suited to the needs of patients with dementia or disabilities, after scoring 95% and 92%, respectively, in those areas.

Patient-led assessments of the care environment are undertaken annually by volunteer patient assessors who assess how the environment supports the provision of clinical care. They consider aspects such as privacy and dignity, cleanliness and general building maintenance as well as the extent to which the environment is able to support the care of those with dementia or a disability.

During its recent assessment, Grove House, in St Albans, scored well on areas of accessibility and being a dementia-friendly environment.

Both inpatient and outpatient facilities at Peace Hospice, Watford, were assessed and performed well on privacy, dignity and wellbeing.

"We’re very proud of the findings of our recent PLACE audit. As a charity we pride ourselves on delivering extraordinary patient care and the findings of this independent assessment confirm that the environment at our patient buildings allows for just that.

We’re always keen to learn and develop our services so we’re grateful for the findings of the report that highlighted areas we could be even better in. We are now working through an action plan to address these points.”
