Gift Aid – Make your donation go 25% further

Your generosity could have an even greater impact - at no extra cost to you. By adding Gift Aid, you help us provide more compassionate care for local patients and families when they need it most.

Gift Aid – Make your donation go 25% further

Boost your donation with Gift Aid!

Gift Aid is a Government initiative that helps your generosity go even further. If you’re a UK taxpayer and choose to add Gift Aid to your donation, Rennie Grove Peace can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give – at no additional cost to you.

As long as you’ve paid the basic rate of tax and the donation is from your own funds, Gift Aid increases the value of your support by 25%, helping us provide even more care for local patients and families.

Here’s how a typical donation could be boosted

How does Gift Aid work?

When you add Gift Aid to your donation, the government boosts it by 25% – at no extra cost to you.

By opting in to Gift Aid, every £1 you’ve donated in the past four years (and any future donations) can be worth £1.25, helping us provide even more care for local patients and families.

If you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the total amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in a tax year, it’s your responsibility to cover the difference.

25% more care

By allowing Rennie Grove Peace to claim Gift Aid on your donation, you’re helping us provide 25% more care for our patients and their families - at no extra cost to you. If you're eligible, simply tick the Gift Aid box when making a donation. If you'd like us to claim Gift Aid on any donations from the past four years* - just fill in this quick online form, and we'll take care of the rest.
Update your Gift Aid status today

* If you can only declare Gift Aid for part of the last four years – no problem! Just let us know the dates you’re eligible for, and our team will take care of the rest.

Ticking the Gift Aid box was so quick and easy - it only took a second, and it means the tax I’ve already paid through my payslip helps my donation go even further. Knowing that Rennie Grove Peace can claim an extra 25% at no cost to me makes donating feel even more worthwhile and special.

Gift Aid helps us deliver more vital care and support for patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses. With this extra funding, we can provide more specialist nursing, enhance our bereavement support, and ensure more people receive the compassionate care they need, whether in the community, in a patient’s home or in our Inpatient unit at Peace Hospice.

Rennie Grove Peace can claim Gift Aid when you make a monetary donation from your own funds and have paid UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year. To qualify, the amount of tax you pay must be at least equal to the value of Gift Aid we claim on your donation(s).

If your circumstances change and you no longer pay enough tax, it’s important to inform all the charities you support. If Gift Aid continues to be claimed when you haven’t paid enough tax, you may need to repay the difference to HMRC.

If you need to contact us regarding an existing Gift Aid declaration, you can do so by filling in this form or by emailling fundraising@renniegrovepeace.org or calling 01442 89 02 22 and ask to be put through to the Fundraising team.

Yes! Gift Aid can be applied to regular gifts, just like one-off donations. As long as you pay enough UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover the amount we reclaim on all your donations in a tax year, we can claim an extra 25% at no extra cost to you.

Yes, you can! You’re eligible for Gift Aid if you’ve paid enough tax this year to cover the amount we reclaim on your donations. While income from a state pension alone may not meet this threshold, you may still qualify if you pay tax on a private pension, savings interest, or capital gains.

If you’re unsure, check with HMRC or a financial advisor to confirm your eligibility

That’s absolutely fine! If you’ve paid enough tax in some, but not all, of the past four years, we can still claim Gift Aid for the years you’re eligible. Just let us know which years you’ve paid enough tax, and our team will take care of the rest.

You can use Gift Aid if the amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax you’ve paid in a tax year (6 April to 5 April) is at least equal to the tax we will reclaim on your donations.

If you’re unsure whether you’ve paid enough tax to qualify, you can check with HMRC or visit their website for guidance.

No, Gift Aid comes from the tax you’ve already paid, so it won’t cost you anything extra.

However, if you pay less Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax than the total amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in a tax year, you’ll need to pay the difference. Ticking the Gift Aid box does not affect your tax status.

If you pay a higher rate of tax, you can claim back the difference between the higher rate (40%) and the basic rate (20%) on the total (gross) value of your donation.

To find out more about claiming back higher rate tax, visit the HMRC website or speak to a financial advisor.

That’s absolutely fine! You can Gift Aid your donations to multiple charities, as long as you’ve paid enough tax to cover the amount each charity will reclaim.

If you no longer pay sufficient tax and need to cancel your Gift Aid declaration, our Fundraising Team will be happy to help update your records.
