“It’s not like a hospital at all, the room felt more like a hotel room and was comfortable and homely."
A short stay to get your symptoms under control

“I have seen an incredible improvement in my pain, as well as my mental health since my stay at the Inpatient Unit.”
Our multi-professional team will support with all your needs

“They don’t just see me as a body and manage the physical symptoms. They care about my mental and spiritual wellbeing too.”
24/7 care

“The staff were fantastic. They said I could stay with my husband Vijay as long as I wanted, which made me feel reassured.”
“Fraser was missing our dog Hugo so much, so we brought him to the hospice quite a few times. My son’s puppy also spent most of his puppyhood with Fraser at the hospice, which the other patients loved.”

Extraordinary care

End of life care

“I was there when Mum died, alongside my dad and my aunty who was my mum's best friend, and my youngest son. They gave us as much time as we needed in the room. The nursing team was great, they dressed her in some clean clothes and night dress. Then we all said our goodbyes to Mum and came home.”
Our Inpatient Unit is based at: Peace Hospice, Peace Drive, Watford, Hertfordshire, WD17 3PH.

Visitors can stay overnight in our guest room, which includes access to shower facilities. In addition, our specially adapted cuddle bed allows partners and family members to lie side by side and cuddle up. Visitors can also stay overnight in our guest room, which includes access to shower facilities. We also offer pull-out beds for families who wish to stay overnight in your room, with your consent. All offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pets are often an important part of the family, and we welcome them into the Inpatient Unit when possible. Please speak with your named nurse during your stay if you would like your pet to visit as we need to consider those with allergies and anxieties.
Yes, we encourage people to make their rooms as homely as possible.
“We were able to bring in our things from home and made sure Fraser’s room was filled with photos, plants and a room diffuser that filled his room with the scent of relaxing oils. Fraser’s birthday was a week after he moved to the Inpatient Unit, so his room was full of cards and balloons and the hospice staff did everything they could to make the day feel special."
