Remember a loved one and celebrate their life this Christmas
As the festive season approaches, Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care invites you to celebrate the lives of those you love and miss by dedicating a star in their memory and by coming along to our service to light a candle and remember their life. By dedicating a star in memory of a loved one you will be supporting our work for those who need us now. We understand that this time of year can be difficult, and we hope that taking part in Light up a Life will bring you comfort.
Remember someone special by adding a star to our virtual tree

Join us at our Light up a Life service in St Albans
We warmly welcome friends old and new to join us at St Albans Cathedral for our annual Light up a Life remembrance service. Our Light up a Life service is a simple non-faith celebration, with music, readings and reflections but – most importantly – a chance for you to pause, reflect and remember the life of someone special.
St Albans Cathedral, St Albans
Sunday 23 November at 2pm
Light a candle and hang a personalised star at a special service with readings, music and time for reflection, led by Canon Will Gibbs.
Register your interest here and we will keep you updated and send you a reminder closer to the event.
Live stream
If you can’t make the event in person, there will be a live stream of the Light up a Life service – the live stream will be available on the Cathedral’s website closer to the date. Please RSVP and we’ll send you a reminder of the event along with the link to watch it live
Everyone is very welcome to join us. The service is free to attend, donations gratefully accepted and will help provide vital hospice care in your community.
Why I celebrate Light up a Life – Cate’s story
Cate attended a Light up a Life service for the first time last year. She lost her Mum, Diane quite suddenly to cancer in 2019, and then her dad, Alan, in 2021 under similar circumstances. Rennie Grove Peace was involved in their end-of-life care, albeit very briefly and Cate wanted to attend to have a place to remember her parents and celebrate their lives.
“The service was beautiful and very moving, especially as it took place at St Albans Cathedral, a place my parents often visited.”
It bought Cate comfort to know others were experiencing the same emotions of grief and loss. She felt sharing this moment with people who understood and felt the same was very cathartic.
“I hope there are other families who will also take comfort from these beautiful services and just being together with others for a moment of reflection and remembrance.”
We are here because of your support

At Rennie Grove Peace we provide vital hospice care services 365 days of the year.
When other services slow down over the festive period, our specialist teams continue to provide expert care and support around-the-clock. Whether at home or in our Inpatient Unit this quality care enables families to share precious moments together.
We need to raise £17,000 every day of the year to provide our clinical services. By donating to our Light up a Life campaign, you are helping to fund vital care that is available whenever people need it.
Thank you
