Discover a hidden oasis in Welwyn!
Enjoy the afternoon strolling around 43 Mardley Hill, a garden designed for year-round beauty, where lush foliage takes centre stage. Part of the National Garden Scheme, take the opportunity to explore the diverse areas this beautiful garden has to offer, from a vibrant alpine bed and sun-drenched borders to deep shade and white-stemmed birches with woodland planting.
With a stream, pond, and bogs to discover along with charming touches like a chicken house, potted vegetables, and exotic plants, there are many quirky and unusual features in the garden to look out for.
Owners, Kerrie and Pete are also Plant Heritage Plant Guardians for two garden-worthy plants that are rare in cultivation. Photographs on display illustrate the garden transformation since 2009 and they have labelled many of the unusual plants. Their garden is also proud to have provided plants for the National Garden Scheme’s Show Garden at Chelsea Flower Show 2024.
With seating areas spread across different levels, there’s always a perfect spot to relax and soak in the surroundings. There will be generous portions of delicious home-made cakes and scones, all served on vintage china, with 90% of the proceeds coming directly to Rennie Grove Peace.
Filmed in 2020 during Covid, this short video gives you a flavour of what you can expect when you come and visit the garden.
