Compassionate Café to tackle loneliness this Christmas

Introducing our Pop-up CompassionART Café at Peace Hospice, Watford

We’re introducing a one-off pop-up of our popular CompassionART Café initiative, taking place at Peace Hospice on 29 December 2025.

What are CompassionART Cafés?

CompassionART Cafés are drop-in sessions that provide a safe space for people who have experienced bereavement to come together for a cuppa and the opportunity to connect and have a chat with others who understand. They usually take place in cafés or community spaces such as church halls and libraries. This December, we’re organising a one-off pop-up event to tackle isolation and loneliness in the period between Christmas and New Year.

The Compassionate Café will take place on Monday 29 December 2025 between 11am – 12.30pm. The event is free to attend and open to everybody in the community. As well as offering company and an opportunity to talk to other people who have experienced bereavement and loss, we will be offering some board games and art activities to help people relax and get the best out of the session

“We’re really looking forward to hosting this pop-up Compassionate Café during the festive period between Christmas and New Year. We know this time of year can be particularly difficult for people who have experienced bereavement and loss. The combination of other services closing over the Christmas period, and the thought that everybody else is busy enjoying festivities with their loved ones can make this a particularly isolating and lonely time.

We wanted to host a pop-up Compassionate Café so that anybody in our community who is feeling isolated and lonely during this time can enjoy some company, a cuppa and the chance to chat with other people who understand.”
