Stroll, explore and be inspired! This year’s Tring Open Gardens includes a fantastic selection of 11 gardens to visit in and around Tring. The afternoon is a great opportunity to meet up with friends and neighbours while enjoying some inspiring gardens, hopefully in the summer sunshine!
There will be plant sales, refreshments, choirs, a raffle and more. You can start and purchase a ticket from any of the 11 gardens.

Woodland fern area with formal pond and summer house. Cottage garden planting both front and back with wildlife pond and wildflower and vegetable garden.
Refreshments available, partially accessible (small steps), 1 disabled space at property, no dogs allowed.
Flintwood, Dorian Close, HP23 5FH
FlintWood is a timber framed self-built home faced with brick and flint. The irregular shaped 1/3 acre plot contains several separate garden rooms. There are areas for vines, currants, plums, cordon apples and pears and a small wild garden. There is a yew parterre planted with roses and other scented plants and a well. There is a small, grassed play area with fishpond separated from a raised vegetable patch by apple cordons. There is a rear garden with perennial border, woodland area and a small greenhouse and a summerhouse

A newly transformed garden over the last 5 years, with herbaceous and ornamental borders. It features an old wall which is planted, an Acacia tree and pond.

A joyful and ever‑evolving garden, shaped by constant experimentation with planting and the creation of distinct areas. Designed as a personal sanctuary within a residential area, it now provides an oasis for wildlife. Recent visitors have included foxes, badgers, a peahen, hedgehogs and a variety of bugs, birds and other creatures.

A generous, mature garden filled with mainly evergreen shrubs and a selection of trees that bring structure and interest even in the winter months. A shed, greenhouse and a small hidden vegetable patch nestle among the planting. With no straight lines to be found, the garden’s curved borders and meandering path – winding from the house to the greenhouse – create a gentle, flowing feel. The owner loves to fill the space with colour, adding plenty of annuals to brighten the garden throughout the year.

A surprisingly long garden divided into a series of distinct ‘rooms’, leading from lawn to abundant vegetable areas, greenhouses, a small orchard and fruit cages, before opening out to views across the fields and Pitstone Hill beyond. A true working garden lived in throughout the warmer months, where Prue tends flowers and fruit and Grahame cultivates vegetables, creating a peaceful retreat from everyday life. With plenty of spots to sit, relax and enjoy a refreshing summer drink, visitors can also purchase preserves made from the garden’s own fruit.

Woodlands, Bulbourne HP23 5QE
Although the owners have lived at the property for many years, they have only recently tried to be gardeners. The garden is part of an old orchard retaining four mature fruit trees. There is a wonderful view over the fields, canal, towards Marsworth. The owner is trying to create a herbaceous/cottage feel and develop the beds year on year. It’s work in progress!
Refreshments, toilet available, parking in Tring Garden Centre until 4pm & The Grand Junction Arms from 4pm subject to availability, 1 disabled space at property, no on street parking , dogs on leads. Tring Tones are singing.
The Cottage, Pumping Station, Little Tring HP23 4NR
The Cottage was formerly owned by the British Waterways Board and is adjacent to the Tringford Pumping Station with views over Tringford reservoir, neighbouring farmland, pastures and woods. Some of the Pumping Station’s Victorian machinery is within the cottage garden and is still in use.
The garden of about 1/3 acre has patios to front and rear of the house with pot grown plants while the rest is managed with wildlife in mind including a pond, and a fruit, vegetable and composting area. Most of the planting has been done in the last 4 years and is work in progress.
There will also be an OO gauge model railway on display in a garage.

38 Miswell Lane HP23 4DD
The owners bought the house, many years ago, it had been empty for a year so the garden was a jungle. They cleared it and made it child friendly with mostly lawn and shaped beds around the edges. On retirement they made the garden their own and now it is their sanctuary where they spend many happy hours. They hope it will inspire you with your garden.

Up until 3 years ago this garden was the tarmac car park behind the vets on Western Road. It has now been landscaped and transformed into an unrecognisable walled garden with terraces, trees, herbaceous borders, ponds, veg patch and more. Different seating areas create atmosphere and entertaining spaces to sit and enjoy an urban sanctuary. Please be aware when visiting this garden that there are different levels, terraces and ponds.

Cemetery Lodge, Aylesbury Road, HP23 4DH
An evolving garden transformed over the past eight years after originally being overgrown and untended. Once a greenhouse and polytunnel were uncovered, the space was gradually shaped into a series of distinct areas, each with its own character. Today, the garden features a small allotment, fairy garden, cottage border, wildlife area and dining space. Guided by a strong ethos of sustainability and conservation, the gardeners grow some of their own family food and create habitats that encourage birds, butterflies and other wildlife – even welcoming a nesting hedgehog. A true place of relaxation, the garden offers a calm escape from busy working lives, whether tending or simply enjoying the space.
