What the Smile Support Hub offers
We are launching a new dementia support hub in St Albans this spring, offering a warm, welcoming space for people living with dementia or memory impairment, alongside their families and carers.
The Smile Support Hub at Grove House is a joint initiative between us and Say it with a Smile. It will bring people together for regular gatherings featuring live music, themed social activities, and plenty of time to connect. Volunteers from both charities will be on hand to help everyone feel comfortable, supported and included.
The Smile Support Hub provides a welcoming space for people with dementia and memory impairment and their loved ones to come together in a supportive, friendly place where they can connect, have fun, share experiences and access support when they need it. Working alongside Say it with a Smile allows us to reach families earlier and provide care that focuses on supporting people to live well and have the best possible quality of life.
Living with dementia can be incredibly isolating, not just for the person diagnosed but for their entire family. The Smile Support Hub is about creating a place where people feel safe, can meet others facing the same challenges, make new friendships and ultimately have a lot of fun. We’re so proud to be launching this initiative in partnership with Rennie Grove Peace. Grove House in St Albans is the perfect space to provide wellbeing support services and a venue for a Smile Support Hub.
The first Smile Support Hub session will take place on Wednesday 11 March 2026, from 10.30am to 12.00pm. The morning will include live music, a quiz, homemade cakes and refreshments. After the launch, sessions will run on the second Wednesday of every month.
My partner has dementia and Smile has made a huge difference to his life. The moment you walk into the club the laughter lights up the room. As a carer myself I have made so many lovely friends. I look forward so much to the meetings, it brings a smile to my face
