Creating a more inclusive shopping experience in our shops
At Rennie Grove Peace, we’re proud to support Purple Tuesday (4 November), a global initiative focused on improving the customer experience for disabled people. Whether visible or invisible, disabilities can impact how people interact with public spaces, and we’re committed to making our shops more welcoming for everyone.
Starting today, we have introduced our Quieter Hours scheme in our charity shops to help create a calmer shopping environment designed to support customers who may find traditional retail settings overwhelming.
Every Tuesday from 11am to 12pm during our Quieter Hour, our charity shops will:
- Turn off background music
- Soften the lighting levels in our stores where possible
- Minimise noise (such as tidying shelves and sorting stock)
By reducing noise and lowering sensory demands in our stores as much as possible, we are helping to create a calmer, quieter environment that is more accessible for all of our customers.
“We’re really pleased to launch our Quieter Hour across our 32 shops. It’s a simple but important way to make our spaces more welcoming for everyone. By creating a calmer shopping environment, we hope to ensure that all our customers, including those who may find busy retail settings challenging, can enjoy a more comfortable and inclusive experience.”
