We understand that parents want to support their children during this time. However, this group is designed specifically for pre-teens to share and connect with others their age in a safe, peer-focused space. To help them feel comfortable expressing themselves freely, we ask that parents do not attend the sessions.
Parents will receive updates about what’s being covered and suggestions for continuing conversations at home.
No. This group isn’t religious. It’s open to children and families of all beliefs and backgrounds. Our focus is simply on helping pre-teens talk about their feelings, learn healthy ways to cope with loss, and find support from others who have been through something similar. While we respect each family’s personal or spiritual traditions, our sessions don’t include any religious teaching or activities – just care, understanding, and connection.
Ideally, yes. Each session will build on the one before, helping your child to gradually build trust within the group and share their experiences. Attending all four sessions helps your child get the most out of the programme and feel connected and supported throughout.
Each group will have a small number of children (a maximum of 10) so everyone has a chance to share and be heard. Keeping the group small helps create a safe, supportive environment where children can connect, make new friends and enjoy activities together.
That’s okay. Children can participate at their own pace. Some may listen at first, and that’s a normal part of the process. The group encourages sharing but never pressures anyone to talk.
It’s natural for children to feel strong emotions when talking about loss. The facilitators are trained to provide support and help children manage their feelings safely. Parents are also given guidance on how to continue supporting their child at home.
When you book, let us know about any food allergies or dietary needs your child has. We’ll make sure a suitable snack is provided so everyone can enjoy the session safely.
