New CompassionART Cafe to launch in Hemel Hempstead
Our CompassionART Café will open in Hemel Hempstead on Wednesday 21 January, offering a creative and welcoming space for anyone who has experienced bereavement or who may be feeling lonely due to illness.
The café will run from 2pm to 3.30pm every third Wednesday of the month and is being delivered in partnership with The Liberty Tea Rooms & Community Hub.
The Hemel Hempstead café will become our third CompassionART Café. It follows the successful launches in St Albans in March 2024 and South Oxhey, where creative sessions have already shown their value in helping people connect, relax and feel less alone.
What are CompassionART Cafés?
CompassionART Cafés are drop-in sessions that provide a safe space for people to come together and express themselves through art. They are aimed at anyone who has experienced bereavement, and those who might be lonely due to illness. The sessions include a guided arts and crafts activity and provide a safe space to chat and connect with others, share memories and create lasting connections over a cup of tea.
What visitors can expect
Each session offers gentle, creative activities designed to support emotional wellbeing. The programme will develop over time but will include:
- Watercolours
- Textile art
- Collage
- Ceramic painting
These activities give people the chance to slow down, focus on something calming and build friendships within their community.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be partnering with Rennie Grove Peace to host a CompassionART Café at Liberty Tea Rooms. This collaboration brings together our shared heart for community, creativity and wellbeing. We’re excited to welcome people into a space that brings comfort, connection and hope.”
“CompassionART Cafés are a great addition to any community, bringing people together and offering important support. I love arts and crafts and find that it really allows me to slow down and relax while chatting to other people and building friendships. We recently tried diamond art, and I found that having an art activity really helped me to stay present in the moment and focus on mindfulness.”
