This group is just for you. It’s a space where you can spend time with other teens who understand what it’s like to have someone close to you die. To keep it feeling relaxed and comfortable, parents and carers don’t attend the sessions.
Your parents or carers will still be kept in the loop about what the group covers and how they can support you outside the sessions.
No. This group isn’t religious. It’s open to teens from all beliefs and backgrounds. It’s a safe space to talk about your feelings, learn ways to cope with loss, and connect with others who understand what you’re going through. We respect personal and cultural beliefs, but sessions don’t include any religious teaching or activities.
No. Sessions are drop-in, so you can come to as many or as few as you want. There’s no pressure to attend every week. Some people choose to come regularly, others just drop in when it feels right.
Groups are kept small, with up to 10 teens. This helps create a safe, supportive space where everyone has the chance to be heard and take part in activities at their own pace.
That’s okay. You can take part at your own pace. Some people prefer to listen at first, and that’s completely normal. You’re welcome to share if you want to, but there’s never any pressure to speak before you’re ready.
It’s okay to feel upset. Talking about loss can bring up strong emotions. The facilitators are there to support you and help you feel safe if things get overwhelming. You can take a break at any time, and there’s no pressure to share more than you want to. Your parents or carers can also be given guidance on how to support you outside the sessions if needed.
Please let us know in advance about any food allergies or dietary needs. We’ll make sure a suitable snack is available.
