A note about our merger

We currently have 32 Rennie Grove and Peace Hospice Care shops who are now working together as a combined retail & trading team. As many of them are extremely established on their own high streets, for now, donations, purchases and associated Gift Aid will be processed by Rennie Grove Hospice Care (Charity No. 11400386) and Peace Hospice Care, (Charity No. 1002878) which are both part of the new Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care group, (Charity No. 1201713).   As we launch new shops, we will look at introducing the new name onto the high street – watch this space!

Find out more about what you can donate to Rennie Grove and Peace Hospice Care shops below.

We can’t accept bulky items of furniture like beds and big chests of drawers. And we no longer take VHS videos or cassette tapes – sorry. Should you have a specific item you’d like to donate and you’re not sure if we can take it, just give your local shop a quick call to check.

We love to receive pre-loved items in good condition. But no-one expects everything to be perfect or unused, since re-using and re-discovering is what charity shopping is all about! And many of our customers like to upcycle the gems they discover in our shops. We steam all our donated clothes, so don’t worry about any creases. You can even donate clothes that are torn or stained – because we can give them a new lease of life as J-cloths or loft insulation!

We work with partners who will buy and collect bags of textiles from us that aren’t suitable to sell. It all means more money in the pot for patient care.

We welcome donations at all our shops during their opening hours. That’s Monday to Saturday, 9am till 5pm for most of our charity shops – but do check your local shop’s opening times. It’s also worth checking with your local shop if they have space to accept more donations on any given day, especially if you’re planning a big delivery. Many of our shops have limited storage space, so we do sometimes reach capacity. Once our storage space is full, we do have to stop accepting donations temporarily for safety reasons until we can process all your wonderful donations. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Our charity shops and online ecommerce bring in £3.3 million every year towards our specialist nursing care and family support. So, when you donate to Rennie Grove shops, you’re helping people in our community facing life-limiting and terminal illness. As a result, your generous donations directly help local families at one of the hardest times in their lives. In addition, your donations will have wider impact. This is because charity shopping also helps the planet, by reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill. So, you can be kind to your pocket, your community, and your planet by donating to, and shopping at, our shops.

Find out more about making gift aid donations to Rennie Grove and Peace Hospice Care shops

Gift aid makes your kind donations worth even more to the charities you support. For every £1 you give – or for every £1 we raise by selling an item you donated – we can reclaim an extra 25p from HMRC. For example, if you sign up to gift aid and donate a jumper that we sell for £4, you’ll help us get £5 for our patient care.

Thank you so much for donating and for making your donation go even further with gift aid. However, there are two separate schemes for gift aid. One for monetary donations and another for items donated for charities to sell. Please sign up to both schemes to make all your generous donations worth even more to us.

To gift aid any items you donate to Rennie Grove shops, simply download, print and complete this gift aid form. Then you can return it to us at any of our shops.

There’s no catch! It really does make your items worth 25% more than their resale value. However, as with any government scheme, there are some formalities. For example, you agree that when you gift aid the items you’re donating, you’re allowing us to sell them on your behalf. The small print also explains when we must contact you. For instance, we must get in touch if your donated items sell for more than £100. You can read all this and more in the gift aid form.

You just need to let us know if your contact details or tax status change. You can do this by popping into your local shop, emailing or writing to us:
