Celebrating our 16th Chilterns 3 Peaks walk
Over 600 walkers signed up to tackle the 16th annual Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge in aid of Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care last weekend (Sunday 14th September 2025), despite changeable weather and blustery winds on the day.
Plucky walkers donned their waterproofs and enjoyed the route through some of The Chilterns’ most beautiful scenery, all to raise vital funds to support local hospice care. So far the walkers have raised over £85,000 with funds still coming in from people sponsoring those who completed the fundraising feat.
Catrina from near Potters Bar took part in the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge with her son, Tom, daughter-in-law and family friends. The group walked in memory of Catrina’s husband, Fraser, who was cared for by Rennie Grove Peace towards the end of his life.
“It was the second time we’ve taken part in the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge and we had a great day. We plan to make it an annual event and encourage even more friends to join us each year.
The route is beautiful. There are some challenging ascents but you’re always rewarded with wonderful views. The first peak is Whiteleaf Hill which has beautiful views over Whiteleaf. That’s where Fraser lived for the first 10 years of his life so it was very poignant for us looking down on the village as we reached that peak.
The weather on the day didn’t dampen our spirits as we enjoyed getting together to do something positive and raise money for the charity that made such a difference to us all during Fraser’s illness.”
"The Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge has become a staple of the local fundraising calendar and always enjoys incredible community support. The event simply would not be possible without the walkers who take part and raise funds through sponsorship so we’re grateful to the 600 local people who didn’t let the inclement weather put them off registering for this year’s walk.
I would like to say a huge thank you to headline sponsor Origin, along with Arriva, R. Benson, TFI and Wendover Wood, who supported this year's event. All money raised by this incredible event will be used to provide vital patient care in our community.
We’re also incredibly grateful to all the volunteers who gave up their time to make this year’s walk possible. From welcoming participants at the registration point, to marshalling the route, handing out medals, and everything in between – their dedication, energy and smiles kept the event running smoothly and lifted everyone’s spirits, even in the rain. We simply couldn’t have done it without them!”
