We are delighted to announce the return of our annual London Bridges Walk – a family-friendly day out that takes in some of the capital’s most iconic bridges and landmarks.  With two different routes – one five miles long and the other 10 miles – there is an option for all abilities.  We are encouraging everyone to raise £162 in sponsorship, and bring not only your relatives and friends, but canine companions too!

Taking place on Sunday 9 March, the two routes begin at the Pear Tree Café in Battersea Park. The five-mile route then takes in five famous London bridges, ending near to Parliament Square. The longer ten-mile route takes in no fewer than 12 bridges, ending with arguably the most recognisable one of all – Tower Bridge.

Whether you walk in memory of a loved one or to support the work of Rennie Grove Peace, each step counts. Your participation helps provide essential services, including Hospice at Home care, emotional support, and inpatient services to people across Herts and Bucks.

How your money helps –
Maria and Pat’s story

Maria had been working as a healthcare assistant in the Rennie Grove Peace Inpatient Unit for two years when her mum, Pat, was admitted there for end of life care.

“Before Mum came here, I knew how amazing the Inpatient Unit is – all our staff working together as a team to help people and their families.  But sitting on the other side of the bed, it changes how you look at it.

“I’m now even more proud of what I do, I am so proud of our team and our hospice, I now truly understand how valuable the services are that we provide and I feel honoured to do my job because people are coming here when they are at their most vulnerable.  They are scared and we provide a safe place and look after them.

“When a patient and their family come through the door, I can recognise that sense of relief because I have personally experienced it.”

Our Healthcare Assistants like Maria, help patients to feel like themselves again. From help with washing and dressing to administering medication and monitoring health & wellbeing, they are a caring face, a listening ear and a supportive hand to our patients.

Just £162 could pay for a Healthcare Assistant, like Maria, for a day in our inpatient unit or within a patients home.

London Bridges Walk 2024

Last year, the London Bridges Walk raised £45,000 for Rennie Grove Peace – which could fund over a year of care from one of our compassionate Healthcare Assistants, like Maria.

Below are just some of the wonderful people (and their furry companions!) who took part on the day and helped us raise an incredible amount for local hospice care.

Fundraising

Your entry fees cover the cost of putting on the event. Any sponsorship you can raise goes directly towards patient care in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

It costs £162 for a healthcare assistant, like Maria, to provide care, support, and reassurance to a patient for one day either in their own home or in our Inpatient Unit.  If each walker taking part raises £162, together we can fund a healthcare assistant for a year.

If you raise over £162 you will receive an event beanie hat. If you raise over £486 (equivalent to three days of care from a healthcare assistant) you will receive an event hoodie. Those of you who have setup a Just Giving page will receive an email once you hit these milestones. If you raise money in another way, please email us to let us know on events@renniegrovepeace.org

We recommend that you set up an online donation page using Just Giving. It is easy to do, and you can share your page link with friends, family and colleagues via email or social media. The funds you raise come straight to Rennie Grove Peace. Alternatively you can download a sponsorship form here.  Check out our fundraising tools and tips for ideas and inspiration.
