Inpatient care

Inpatient care at Peace Hospice, Watford

Our short-stay Inpatient Unit is based within our Hospice building in Watford town centre. Recently refurbished, it provides a calm and comfortable environment. It offers a mixture of single and double (single sex) rooms, all with en suite bathroom facilities. All our rooms are on the ground floor with a secluded garden area. There is TV and WiFi access, with a relaxing lounge and kitchen area for patients and families.

Our Inpatient Unit provides symptom and pain management, medication management, and helps you manage your sickness/breathlessness or other problems that you may be experiencing because of your illness. Many of our patients are admitted for just a short while and are then discharged back home. We also provide end-of-life care for patients who are in their last days of life. You will be supported during your stay by a specialist trained team of nurses, doctors, therapists, social workers and volunteers who will care for you 24 hours a day.

Admissions to our Inpatient Unit

If you feel you need to be admitted to our Inpatient Unit, please ask your hospital/community health professionals to refer you if appropriate, and they will let you know when a bed becomes available, and transport can be arranged. During your stay, your named nurse and the team will review your care regularly to ensure your comfort and wellbeing is maintained at all times. Your care will be managed by a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the right medication, care and support is in place.

"My oncologist was so impressed with positive change in me he asked for details where I had been. Incredible change (improvement) in pain, I can eat again and not sick. My mental health saw a huge improvement."
