Herts 10K 2024

A run to remember!

Herts County Showground played host to hundreds of runners on Sunday (6 October 2024) as the Herts 10K in aid of Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care took place on the grounds. A total of 660 people signed up to run, raising an incredible £45,000 between them – with sponsorship still coming in.  

This year’s event saw runners choose from a range of distance options including the traditional 10K plus a 5K and 1K family fun run.  

The 10K route was the most popular with 446 runners signing up. A further 92 runners bought tickets for the 5K race and 82 people registered for the new family fun run.  

The weather on the day was overcast but dry as the runners arrived for the start of the race. A warm-up led by Jo Handcock from Everyone Active gave everybody the chance to get race ready. The 10K runners left at 10am with the first finisher crossing the line 37 minutes later.

The 5K runners left at 10am to run one lap of the Herts 10K circuit and the family fun run took place at 9.30am.

“It was an exciting year for the Herts 10K with a new venue and new distance options for runners to choose from. We were delighted to see regular runners returning to the event and new runners embracing the additional 5K and fun run options.  

“I’d like to thank everybody who took part in this year’s event. So far we’ve raised £45,000 thanks to ticket sales and sponsorship. Every penny raised will be used to provide vital hospice care services for local people living with a life-limiting illness.”
