Make a splash this summer and put the fun into fundraising. Here at Rennie Grove we’re inviting you to a double-dip into the water as well as raising money for our vital work.
First up, after a highly successful debut last year, is the return of our Open Water Swim at Merchant Taylors’ Lake on the last Saturday in May. From a possibly chilly 10am to a hopefully slightly warmer 12 noon swimmers of all ages and abilities are invited to part. You can choose your distance from 100m, 500m or 750m options – or just show willing by daring to dive in.
Second in this year’s series is the Open Water Swim Festival, taking place on Saturday 16 July from 10am to 3pm. The festival will offer swimmers challenges who fancy pitting themselves over longer distances – 3k,5k or 10k. Or for the really adventurous there’s the ultimate ‘swim as far as you can in four hours’ challenge!
Amy Chambers, Head of Fundraising Development at Rennie Grove, said the charity was excited to build on last year’s successful Open water Swim. “Our Swim Series is designed to cater for all ages and abilities: experienced open water swimmers and people keen to dip their toes in the water for their first taste of open water swimming.
“We wanted all elements of our swim series to be as accessible as possible. So if swimming’s not really your thing, you can still steel yourself to make a splash and get sponsored for braving the chilly waters.”
We’re suggesting £30 of sponsorship for the ‘get in and splash’ challenge and £150 for swimmers taking on the distance challenges. Raise £250 and you’ll get a special event hoody, which could come in handy for future events.
Remember, just £30 is enough to fund an hour of physiotherapy to help patients live independently for as long as possible.
