Taking place on Sunday May 14, the popular cycle event sees riders choose between 10, 20, 30 or 40-mile routes through the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside.
All routes will start from the Oaklands College Campus on Hatfield Road in St Albans before taking in some of Hertfordshire’s prettiest villages and most beautiful countryside, as well as a couple of challenging hills!
Families are encouraged to tackle the ride together, or groups can team up for the route, while raising money for their chosen charity.
Mr Mike Hanlon, Chairman of Rotary’s SACCR organising committee, says:
“This charity cycle ride is now a firm favourite in the local cycling and fundraising calendar. Started in 1994 by the Rotary Clubs of St Albans, it is now an annual event and has raised significant sums for a wide range of headline charities, as well as other Rotary supported charities. This is a fun event suitable for all ages and all abilities, with certificates available on completion so riders can celebrate their achievement.
“After the ride, participants are welcome to enjoy the friendly atmosphere back at Oaklands College, where some well-earned refreshments – including coffee, burgers, hot and cold drinks, cakes and ice creams – will be available, making it a great day out for all the family.”
Gemma Ralph, Community Fundraising Manager at Rennie Grove Hospice Care, says:
“We’re delighted to have been chosen as one of the charities to benefit from this year’s SACCR. It really is a highlight in the local sporting calendar and a great day out that riders always enjoy. Whether you’ve taken part before or have never attended an organised cycle ride, I’d encourage local people to give it a go and help us to raise vital funds to provide hospice care for people in our community who are living with a life-limiting illness.”
Registration for this event is now open at www.saccr.co.uk.
