We’ve launched our annual spring appeal to raise funds for our increasingly in-demand Family Support Services.
Rennie Grove’s Family Support provides help for families struggling with illness and bereavement. The team is dealing with more and increasingly complex cases as well as higher levels of serious psychological distress.
Head of Family Support, Lisa Jackson, notes: “Covid-19 made caring, grieving and saying goodbye much harder. Although we are learning to live with it now, the people we help are still reeling from its impact.”
Her message is underlined by the experience of Heather. She turned to our counselling service after losing both her father and former father-in-law within just five weeks.
“Losing my dad has made me face the feelings I’ve been running away from all my life. With Rennie Grove’s help I faced them head on, unravelled them and finally made peace with them.”
Heather, who is becoming a volunteer corporate ambassador for us, acknowledges: “Without the counselling I know I wouldn’t be in the position I am now; happy, settled, back at work.”
Lisa says she and her team of trained counsellors, listeners and therapists want to be available for everyone who needs and for as long as necessary.
“I just want to make no one is left waiting when they need us. When patients ask for our help, we must work with them while they are still well enough. And when family members come to us – we know that takes guts and they need our help now – they don’t want to wait.”
“It’s a privilege to be part of helping someone get their life back on track. And we couldn’t so it without our supporters’ help.”
A gift of £30 could pay for a session of one-to-one specialist counselling or bereavement support.
