Rennie Grove Peace is delighted to be bringing Compassionate Cafés to Great Missenden. The new Compassionate Café sessions are being run in partnership with Buckinghamshire Council Libraries and will take place at Great Missenden Library on the last Wednesday of each month from 10-11.30am, starting on Wednesday 28 February 2024.
Compassionate Cafés are drop-in sessions, hosted in local venues, that provide a welcoming space for people affected by any type of loss. Each Compassionate Café is facilitated by trained volunteers who ensure the sessions offer a safe and welcoming space for people to come together for friendship, emotional support and a listening ear.
As well as giving people a space to talk about their loss, volunteers are able to provide information and signpost local services that can help.
“We have been running Compassionate Cafés for a number of years and in that time have supported hundreds of people who have experienced a loss or bereavement. The scheme was originally started by Peace Hospice Care and thanks to the merger with Rennie Grove that formed Rennie Grove Peace, we’re delighted to have the opportunity to bring this model to the people of Great Missenden.
Taking the first step to attend something like this can be the hardest. A warm welcome and a trained, listening ear awaits anybody in the area who has experienced loss and would like a place to come together and talk.”
