Breaking the taboo

Talking about death and loss is tough and can feel overwhelming. At Rennie Grove Peace, we want to help more people feel confident to start the conversation.

Our free virtual workshop is open to anyone who would like to be better at talking about death – from healthcare staff and volunteers working in the voluntary sector, to members of the public who want to find out more.

The workshop will explore questions such as:  ‘Why do we find it hard to talk about death?’ and ‘What does a good death look like for me?’. It will also cover communication techniques, empathy vs sympathy, and theories of loss.

We will also explore the social context of death and dying and will consider the impact of good end of life care and bereavement support.

The session will help people feel more confident in supporting people who might have a palliative care diagnosis and those who are bereaved, and will look at what to do and say when faced with various situations.
