Compassion with Pride

As part of Proud Watford's week, come along to our Compassionate Café.

Compassion with Pride

Proud Watford’s vision is to develop a town that’s without prejudice to anyone, aiming to develop a wholly inclusive local society.  As part of their week-long programme, which takes place between Sunday 13th – Saturday 19th August 2023 and culminates in Herts Pride, we are going to be running a Compassionate Café at Watford Museum on Wednesday 16th August at 10.30, aimed at the LGBTQI+ community.

A Compassionate Café is a drop-in session that provides a welcoming and safe space for people affected by any type of loss. We warmly invite those from the LGBTQI+ community to join us at this Café, where they can meet others over a cuppa to tell their stories and share their experiences.

Bereavement, end of life and palliative care services can be daunting for anyone. However, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and other gender diverse (LGBTQI+) people are more likely to have unique needs and experience inequity and barriers in accessing services. We are committed to ensuring hospice services are accessible, welcoming and equitable for all.

As part of our commitment to ensuring our hospice services at Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care are accessible and equitable for all, Stewart Marks, our Chief Executive, has signed Proud Watford’s Pledge.

Stewart says: “I am pleased to confirm through this Pledge that at Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, we welcome all, support all, accept all, are open to all, and are proud of all. I think it is so important to let people know that we are non-judgemental and that they are safe in being open with us.  Everyone has a right to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion, for their lives to be celebrated and their wishes to be heard, regardless of who they are and their personal circumstances.”

See https://www.proudwatford.com/ for details of the Pledge.
