We are looking for 30 contestants who are keen to learn new skills and have fun – while raising money to support vital hospice care in the area – in this brand-new challenge, Strictly Come Hospice.
Contestants will be treated to 10 weeks of free professional dance tuition to learn two routines to perform at a grand finale performance to be held in January 2025. On the night, one pair of dancers will walk away with the coveted Strictly Come Hospice trophy!
Whether you already know your foxtrot from your quickstep or you’ve never danced a day in your life, this exciting experience is open to everybody.
Dancers can sign up individually or with a partner and each contestant is being challenged to raise £600 in sponsorship. With a three-month training period, there will be plenty of time for participants to showcase their emerging talents to friends and family to encourage sponsorship.
Emma Stewart, our events manager, says:
“We are delighted to be bringing this exciting fundraising challenge to the area. It’s totally different from the other fundraising activities we currently offer and will give local people the chance to learn new skills while making a real difference through fundraising. Every year the nation enjoys cosy autumn evenings watching the glitz and glamour of ballroom dancing on the TV – now we’re offering local people the chance to put their best foot forward and step into it themselves.
“Every penny raised through sponsorship and sales of tickets to the grand finale performance will be used to fund vital hospice care in our community. We need to raise over £17,000 every single day just to keep our services running, so exciting new fundraising events like this are vital in enabling us to do that.”
Group tuition for the challenge will be led by two professional dancers and take place at Rickmansworth School, WD3 3AQ, on Tuesday evenings starting from 8 October 2024.
Each contestant will pay a registration fee of £30 on confirmation of their place. They will then be challenged to raise £600 in sponsorship and encouraged to sell at least five tickets to the grand finale.
