Volunteers needed for St Albans Compassionate Cafés

Do you have two hours to spare per month to provide a warm welcome and listening ear to those affected by loss?

Volunteers needed for St Albans Compassionate Cafés

We are calling on St Albans residents to help and volunteer their time to help with our Compassionate Cafés in the area.

Libby, has been volunteering with Compassionate Cafés in Watford and this is what she says about a Compassionate Cafe:

“A Compassionate Café is a space for those who have been affected by any type of loss, such as bereavement, to drop in for a cuppa and some company. Volunteers help to provide them with a friendly welcome and a listening ear, so they can express their thoughts and feelings with others who understand them. It can really help people at a difficult time in their lives. I really enjoy helping people this way, and we get such great feedback from those that come along, so we know that it really does help.”

The time commitment is as little as two hours per month, and we look to match people with a Compassionate Café local to them. This means it can fit around your commitments.

The Cafés we run at present provide a real source of support for local people. People who attend the cafés tell us that they like the opportunity to chat to other people who have shared similar experiences, as well as speaking to the trained volunteers who are on hand at each session. We’re keen to roll out the Compassionate Cafés model into St Albans and have had very promising conversations with a number of potential venues in the city, all we need now are the volunteers to make them happen.
