Opportunity details
We are looking for volunteers to support people in our local community who are struggling to cope after a bereavement.
For those people we offer a weekly drop-in group called “Becoming bereaved”. This group is facilitated by a qualified or trainee counsellor and supported by a volunteer listener. It is not a counselling or therapy session, but a safe space for people to explore their grief.
If you are a qualified or trainee counsellor we’d love to hear from you.

At our Inpatient Unit in Watford
Two hours on a Friday, every other week.
We are looking for one qualified or trainee counsellor, and one other volunteer who is not a counsellor. You will have a desire to help, be a good listener, caring, compassionate and sensitive to the needs of others, trustworthy, reliable and non-judgmental.
There will be a one-day in person mandatory training session at one of our Rennie Grove Peace sites. There will be some additional mandatory training for you to complete at the start of your volunteering with us and periodic refresher training.
You will be line managed by our Bereavement Listening and Talking Therapies Team and will be offered regular supervision.
We rely on the commitment of our volunteers to support our services, however we understand that you may need to take a break from your volunteering. Your line manager will be in regular contact during your break and will be happy to discuss any changes to the support you can provide if necessary. If you have been on an extended break it may be necessary for you to attend some refresher training.
